WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS PRINT … The Existential Chipmunk, my personal hero! His adventures are well-documented in The Fable of the Chipmunk, the Bear, and the Sunflower Seeds ; or, How Fortuna’s Wheel Turns such That in the End no one should try to rise above the “Rank or Station wherein the ALMIGHTY Has plac’t him” lest he find the ever-spinning WHEEL of FATE returns him to his place. I always get very uptight in the drawing phase of a print and wallow in self-doubt, but with the EC I decided one Saturday morning I would start on a block and Sunday night after dinner what was would be. And so the EC was born, raising his first to the heavens in scorn, even as the heavens prepare to smack him back down again, and again, and again. This was first print I was able to use my Jenson No. 58, a gorgeous typographical homage to the genius of Wm. Morris.
