SOTTRP on Instagram

Yes, SOTTRP is on Instagram. It’s the modern world, not Venice of the 1490s. But browse my posts without fear. There are no pics of my booty in a thong, or me in a mankini on a scooter in the streets of Mykonos, or the ubiquitous, ever-so-sexy shots taken in front of the mirror of a crowded & cluttered bathroom. I don't think of myself as a "twitcher" [British slang for a birder] but I have done eight prints with birds in them in the last three years! Carving delayed by tending to 1,200 seedlings. Spring B short up the Shore. Resurrecting a 17th century woodcut for my second print in my "Aesop Three Ways" series. "Say hello to my little friend" -Alignmate! Of course, is it my friend if all it does is feed my obsessive/compulsive side? 1/128" off? Not good enough! Happy soddened, gray Earth Day! Teapots by She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed. A starry night on the imposing table. I'm sucked into watching Yellowjackets on the big TV upstairs under a blanket while the wind off the lake rattles the windows. So I am doing some sketches to pretend I'm not goofing off. And also remembering the simple joy of drawing just to be drawing. My reject pile is twice as thick as my accept pile. Since I can't blame my tools, I guess I will have to blame myself [here it comes] but that lokta paper was a challenge. The sheets vary in thickness and texture and my experiments with ink kept going south no matter how hard I worked that spoon.
