WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS PRINT …  It’s fun!  And rich!  Isn’t that what we all want to be?  I love the metallic gold against the “ultra blue” lokta paper. The print stays with my roots of perusing medieval manuscripts and early printed books for inspiration, with the border modified from an image of a medieval manuscript I found in a 19th century book & the sun is a riff on Renaissance images. Lokta paper is made by hand in the mountains of Nepal and the “import and purchase of Lama Li products supports rural industries and the employment of marginalized workers. Ten percent of the net proceeds from its sale supports community development initiatives such as clean water, road construction, and other infrastructure projects” … and it’s brought down from the mountain by donkeys (!) to start its journey to the North Shore of Lake Superior and then your home. Once the snow buries us I plan to do a companion piece with the man in the moon replacing the sun and the piece printed in metallic silver.
