WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS PRINT … What makes you believe that birds are descended from  dinosaurs more than seeing a pileated woodpecker in flight? They are the pterodactyls of the modern skies, and one of my three favorite birds, along with the chickadee & the raven. Normally I work with type & images. This was my first foray into just an image alone & also using two blocks to produce the colors. For those of you who are birders (or “twitchers” if you are from across the Pond), you might recognize the name of Duluth’s most famous birder, Laura Erickson. She kindly let me use one of her photographs for this image. I am not sure where I came up with the idea for this & am not sure if it is related to my recent 1960s Donovan revival. Or maybe it’s nothing more than it’s really fun to say psycho-pecker.
