WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS PRINT … Just like the werewolf & vampire of Twilight fame, the fox & the crow are in an epic battle across the ages. This is the second in my fox & crow series. My goal is to print an homage to Aesop’s fox & crow from each century since the invention of the printing press in 1455. The text of this print is from Eglsefield’s Aesop published in London in 1639. The 1639 image was updated and used in Barret’s Aesop of 1656. His text was a bit moralizing in an unfun way so I combined the better, earlier, text with the better, later image in my print. The paper is faux aged by brushing on a coffee reduction and pressing the paper. I chose Gevali Columbian this time, ending up with a darker paper than my first print in this series. The third in the series will be the work of Gunther Zainer, a 15th century printer working in Ulm, Germany.
